How Janos controls 120 Philips Hue lights and 4 bridges using Yeti Smart Home

Luis Pinto, Head of Content

On this blog post we want to tell you how one of our users (Janos) decided to use Yeti Smart Home Automation to control all his Philips Hue lights.

Why does he need to use Yeti?

It’s not common finding people who want to control 4 Philips Hue bridges - with 30 philips hue lights each - at the same time. But, smart home technology must be prepared for this and more.

If you use Philips Hue official app, you need to switch between bridges every time you want to control one of them. We have decided to come across users’ needs and implemented an easier way to allow people to control all their lights regardless how many bridges they have.

On this blog post One house and Two Philips Hue bridges we showed how our users  can control up to two Philips Hue bridges at the same time with Yeti Smart Home.

How Janos found Yeti

If you go to the comments section of the blog post mentioned above, you will see a user asking if Yeti can control 4 Philips Hue bridges at the same time.

"hello,

tell me please can I control 4 Philips HUE bridges at the same time?

Thank you"

That  was amazing -  a user with 120 lights was looking for an application to control his Philips Hue.

Thanks to Yeti, you can now control all your Philips Hue lights at the same time even if you have two bridges

How we have helped him

What did we do? The head of our customer support, Asun, reached him out, asking if he needed  assistance with that configuration. At the beginning, lights weren’t configured on the Philips Hue official app and because of that, Yeti couldn’t find all of them. But after a small brainstorm, Janos could have connected all his lights to the four Philips Hue bridges.

Once all lights were configured using the Philips Hue app, Yeti could find all of them - and that’s when the magic started to happen.

What did we learn?

It is true that we found some issues regarding the control of all the lights at the same time (you gotta admit - 120 lights is a lot) but we promise to work on improving the way we do this, so the performance will be perfect.

I would like to say thank you to this user for letting us share this story :)

So now, if you have more than one Philips Hue bridge you know you can control them with Yeti Smart Home. And remember, if you have any issues with it don’t forget ask Asun! She will help you with everything you need!
